The mega-hit deep-sea creature blockbuster 'Kraken' has confirmed its domestic release this summer and unveiled its main poster.
'Kraken' (Original title: KRAKEN) [Import: Signal Pictures Co., Ltd. | Distribution: Nine Planners Co., Ltd. | Director: Pål Øvrelie] is a new film bringing together the production team behind the globally successful Netflix original 'Troll' and director Pål Øvrelie of the box office hit 'Tunnel' (2019). The unveiled main poster features the enormous eye of the legendary monster Kraken gleaming coldly in the deep sea. The silhouette of a human peacefully kayaking on the water's surface and the piercing gaze of a predator below, ready to swallow everything, create a stark contrast that evokes tension.
'Kraken' depicts a battle that unfolds in a small fishing village in 'Sognefjord,' Norway's deepest fjord, when an ancient creature awakens due to the reckless use of cutting-edge sonar technology by a large corporation's fish farm. Following 'Troll,' it is the second-largest production project in Northern European film history in terms of budget, with state-of-the-art VFX technology perfectly recreating everything from the minute movement of water droplets to the magnificent scale of the deep-sea monster.
The cast is also impressive. Mikel Brath Sylsethi from Amazon Prime's highly anticipated SF film 'Blade Runner 2099' and Sara Cory from the Netflix blockbuster 'Troll 2' join the project as leading actors, enhancing the immersion of the story.
