The Spark Fighters shook the mound of Whimun High School's baseball team and took a step closer to a big victory.
In episode 11 of 'Spark Baseball 2' released on the 27th, the Spark Fighters created two big innings against Whimun High School's bullpen and built a commanding 8:1 lead.
Starting pitcher Yu Hee-gwan, who took the mound that day, allowed consecutive hits in the top of the first inning and found himself in a bases-loaded, no-outs jam. However, he displayed seasoned double-play execution by intentionally dropping a bunting attempt in front of the pitcher and throwing to third base to record two outs. In response, Whimun High brought fastball pitcher Lim Ho-yoon to the mound, but he allowed a go-ahead solo home run to Lee Taek-geun in the bottom of the second inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Fighters added runs through a double by Jung Geun-woo created by poor outfield defense from their opponent and an additional run from an opponent's error. Following a walk and a hit batter that set up a two-outs, bases-loaded situation, Jung Ui-yoon hit a two-run single, extending the lead to 4:0.
In the top of the fourth inning, after Yu Hee-gwan gave up a two-run double to Kim Do-hoon and showed signs of struggle, relief pitcher Lee Dae-eun came in and overcame the run-scoring threat with a strikeout and ground ball. The Fighters, having weathered the crisis, broke away in the bottom of the fourth with Park Jae-wook's double, Kim Jae-ho's bunt single, and Jung Geun-woo's RBI. Following Choi Su-hyun's sacrifice bunt and Kim Jae-ho's walk that set up a one-out, bases-loaded situation, Lee Dae-ho's squeeze walk, followed by consecutive RBIs from Jung Sung-hoon and Jung Ui-yoon, resulted in the 8:1 score.
Viewers responded enthusiastically to the veteran players' seasoned game management and the batters' sharp form. Meanwhile, 'Spark Baseball' will play the twelve-game direct observation match of the season against powerhouse Busan High School on August 8th at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan. Ticket reservations will begin on August 4th at 2 PM on YES24.
