'Haesul', who receives infinite trust from Hopohang residents
The first famous line contains the infinite trust of Hopohang residents toward Haesul (played by Im Hyun-sik). Beomseok, heading toward a rural path and a location with an ox carcass, is bewildered by the gruesome sight. Seongi (played by Cho In-sung) and his group claim it was the work of a tiger that came down to the village and say "If Uncle Haesul said it, it's really true" with emphasis. This famous line creates laughter in a serious situation and is leading a meme phenomenon.
#2. "Let me show you what happens when I mess with an Earthling."
'Seongi's survival instinct that doesn't give in even before an overwhelming presence
The second famous line demonstrates Seongi's strong determination in crisis. Seongi, who entered the forest to find traces of the creature that attacked the village, becomes prey to them. In a situation pushed to the edge of a cliff by the power of alien Maveyo, Seongi delivers the line "Let me show you what happens when I mess with an Earthling." Seongi's unbreakable determination and survival instinct heighten the tension.
#3. "Why is he so good at riding horses?"
Pleasant banter bursting out in the midst of a tense chase
The third famous line creates humor in a critical situation. After saving Beomseok's group, Seongi lures out Maveyo. Seongi rides a horse across the plain, Beomseok and Seongjae (played by Jung Ho-yeon) provide covering fire. During the chase, Nakyeon (played by Lee Sang-hee), watching Seongi ride the horse skillfully, delivers the line "Why is he so good at riding horses?" representing the audience's sentiments and inducing laughter.
#4. "He says it's at our house."
'Yangbae's single remark that changes the mood of the play in an instant
The fourth famous line opens the prelude to unpredictable developments. Returning to the substation after the commotion, Yangbae (played by Eum Moon-seok), a village carpenter, shares a significant story with Beomseok. When Beomseok dismisses Yangbae's claim that he witnessed and directly caught an alien as preposterous, Yangbae reverses the mood by saying "He says it's at our house."
'HOPE' is a story that begins when Beomseok, the head of the Hopohang Substation located in the DMZ, hears news from neighborhood youths that a tiger has appeared, and meets an unbelievable reality as the whole village goes on alert. The film is currently screening to great acclaim in theaters across the country.
