Film <Hope> has achieved the fastest pre-reservation rate ranking first this year and recorded the highest pre-sale volume, releasing a character making video of 'Seong-ae' episode.
<Hope> (Director/Screenwriter Na Hong-jin, Production Posed Films, Co-production Plus M Entertainment·Westworld Inc., Presented/Distributed by Plus M Entertainment) tells a story that begins when the head of the DMZ Hopo Port outpost, Beom-seok, hears news of a tiger's appearance and the entire village goes on alert. This video captures Jung Ho-yeon's passionate performance as she took on the role of Seong-ae, a police officer at Hopo Port.
Jung Ho-yeon introduced the character Seong-ae as "a passionate person with clear standards of right and wrong who spares no effort for just causes." From before filming, Jung Ho-yeon learned how to use firearms and handled real-weight guns to boldly tackle her first action acting performance in her life. In particular, for the car chasing scene, she obtained her Class 1 driver's license right after casting and underwent repeated high-difficulty driving training including drifting and J-turns.
Praise from foreign media continues to follow. The Playlist praised it as "an appearance worthy of the hall of fame of action films that gets the adrenaline pumping," and The Hollywood Reporter highly praised it, saying "Jung Ho-yeon, who took on her first feature film, perfectly handled everything from fiery action to comic timing." Film critic Lee Dong-jin also evaluated it as "a bold rush, a huge crescendo that is the film itself."
Following the Seong-ae episode of the character making video, the Seong-gi episode and Beom-seok episode will be unveiled sequentially. <Hope>, which predicted a box office sensation with overwhelming pre-reservation rates, will be released in theaters tomorrow, July 15th.
